The coca cola project
The coca cola project was a project that coca cola wanted to order 1,000,000 pounds of 85% phosphoric acid from us and it was our job as students/ chemists to figure out how much phosphorus we need, how long it will take to make, how much we will profit and is it worth it. After many calculations and critical thinking we came up with these numbers and facts.
Profit
Total amount San Marin will be paid: $46,224,500
$17,422,000
There is a clear benefit from this amount of money, and we see no downside to taking on this job.
What can we do with this money?
$17 million is a lot of money that can fund:
The total amount of phosphorus we need to order: 1, 715. 08 metric tons in order to make a million gallons of phosphoric acid.
Chemical Equations:
- P205+3H2→ 2H3PO4
-P4+5O2→ 2P2O5
How does Coca Cola benefit from our help?
350mg of phosphoric acid per 12 oz of coke
We will produce 18,208,508,514. 286 cans of Coke
Shipping
Number of carts needed: 35
With this time frame we are left with two extra months for any unseen mistakes or trouble that we may encounter.

Final group reflection
This project was one filled with some uncontrollable factors that led to a lot of difficulty in completing the project on time. But our group was very good with staying in contact with each other. We were able to organize who is doing what and what time we need to meet during lunch very easily. But a big issue we faced was that in the heat of when everyone was doing work I came down with whooping cough and wasn't allowed to attend school for a week which is pretty much half the project. Then because all the calculation where in my hand writing I had to constantly text my group to translate my variables and such. Over all our group worked well together considering the situation we were in.
