Murder Mystery
Our beloved captain cornball was murdered and it could be one of the six people who where at the scene of the time of the murder. Our job is to take all the blood and dna and test and organize it to figure out who we believe committed the crime. Once we believed we knew who committed the crime we took our evidence and put it into a presentation for a grand jury to decide whether or not to give us an arrest warrant.

How did we get our evidence
Karyotyping- cutting out the chromosomes of the printed samples and organizing and comparing to the ones found on the crime scene.
Family tree- We took the back story of each suspect and organized a family tree showing connections to captain cornball, diseases in that family, and who has died/murdered in that family previously.
Blood DNA- we did a process called gel electrophoresis to help separate DNA fragments and sort them by size. Once we recovered all the different patterns from the DNA we used the patterns found from the crime scene DNA to find matches.
Finger printing- We dusted and removed finger prints from the glass and then able to see the fingerprint under UV light.
Pen testing- There was a note left at the scene so we where able to test it by dipping it in alcohol and see how the ink reacts to it and compare it to the note.
Motive evidence- We took the stories of the people to find a reason why someone would want to murder captain cornball.

human genetics
Something I learned about.....
Human genetics- That we get all genetics from our parents and that everyone's genetics are very very different from everyone else's.
Genetic Diseases- That even if we don't have the disease we could be a carrier of that disease and you can pass it off to your offspring.
Chromosomal abnormities- Just having one to many ore one not enough chromosomes can lead to changes in the way you act or cause sudden and abrupt movements.
DNA sequencing- That the odds to find someone with the same DNA sequencing as you could be as high as 1 in 7 quintillion.

Two things I liked
It was a lot of fun spending the time to research and find out who murdered captain cornball like we where in csi.
It was also really cool being able to test the blood for its blood type and seeing it react to different anti bodies.

Something I didn't like
I hated karyotyping. We spent 8 hours sitting and cutting chromosomes and gluing them on paper over and over again.
